The game serves as the downloadable content pack for the RTS game Empire Earth, and a Gold Edition of Empire Earth was released, containing both the original and expansion released in 2003. The game comes with several new features, including civilizations, units, civilization powers, and hero units. There are three new campaigns available such as WWII, Ancient Rome, and 24th Century Mars.
