The main task is to explore the environment by controlling a monkey trapped inside a ball, to reach the end of each stage. Using the stick, the player controls the monkey and try to maintain balance, because once the player fall during rolling, the game ends. There are several stages and each contains platforms such as half-pipes, slopes, moving objects, and more. The game features new gimmicks, including switches, teleporting doors, massive obstacles, and more. It has three modes such as Challenge, Story, and Party. The story mode revolves around the player and the antagonist named Dr. Bad-Boon. The story reveals that an evil scientist steals all the bananas from the Monkey Island.
