The game is set in an open world environment, and it mixes the side-scroll gameplay with Action and Role-playing elements, taking place in the cyberpunk-themed world. The main focus of the game is on exploration and non-linear gameplay like other Role-playing games. In the game, the player controls the main character named Dex, an eponymous character who receives a set of challenging quests from Non-player Characters. Each quest in the game has several possible solutions and it up to the player which one of them to select. The story centres on the protagonist, a young woman, who is living in Harbor Prime, a city ruled by corporations that are associated with a secret authority called the Complex. The player becomes a target of the Complex that summons and sends it assassins to her in order to save, but she is rescued by a hacker called Raycas who assists her to safety. There are several challenging levels, and each has a set of objectives that the player needs to complete.

The game is the sequel to Bit.Trip Runner, and it comes with several improvements, modifications and new content. It is split into five worlds, and each world comes with fourteen regular levels and five bonus levels for the massive total of 95. The objective of the player is to assist the selected character to the end of each level without colliding an obstacle or falling off the playfield. In the game, the player character runs automatically and to reach the end, and the player needs to perform different actions such as sliding, jumping, kicking, and more, as well as complex movies including deflecting projectiles with a shield, hovering enemies, and more. Like its predecessor, the game has several retro-style levels, which will unlock when the player uncovers secret Famicom cartridges. Gathering cartridge ends the level, but in some cases, the player needs to gather a key to open the lock leading the player to the path which contains a cartridge.

The game is the trilogy of platform games and comes with three different episodes such as Trouble with Twibbles, Mylo Versus the Supernova, and Slugging it Out. The plot follows the protagonist named Mylo Steamwitz, a space trader, who formulates his grand get-rich scheme by purchasing a farm rich in a famous species to meet the demand of the market. To collect enough money to pay off his creators and for his farm, the player flies to the caves in the Altair system to mine the valuable crystals. After having failed in his businesses due to miscalculations, the player decides to purchase a solar system and create it a vacation resort to earn money. To fulfil his dreams the player needs to go back to the dangerous caves for mine more crystals to trade and purchase his own solar system.
