StarBlade mixes the elements of First-person Perspective, Space Combat, and Rail Shooter developed and published by Namco. The player has to destroy the enemies, which will drop mana in a large quantity for the player. As the player stores a large amount of mana in castles, the expansion of castles increases, which allows the player to cast more powerful spells. More expansion of castles will grant the player with additional balloons to defend the realm from invaders.

The castle serves as a hometown for the player where he can respawn after death. If the game ends without having castle forces, the player has to restart the game, so the player must intact with the castle as long as possible.
