It serves as the fifth main entry in the series of Earth Defense Force, providing the same gameplay as the previous titles. While inspecting the world, the player can shoot enemies using a third-person perspective.
The game takes the player in 2022, where the player needs to serve earth by facing lots of unknown form enemies as a soldier of Earth Defense Force. There are more than 110 different missions to take over, and the player needs to complete all the tasks to stop the robots from ruining the earth.
