Instead of exploring the different portals like the previous title, the player struggles to attain keys that lead the player to various lands. The story revolves around two characters such as Cobi and Tara from the monster breeders’ family who have come to the beautiful kingdom of Greatlog to make a living. After that, they reach to their mother who tells them to pick up a Nut Pie. The game lets the player form a team of monsters from different Dragon Quest games, controlling either Tara or Cobi. The player starts the game in the world full of different shops, breeding area, a monster farm, and more. By progressing through the story, the player obtains keys which leads the player to new worlds. There are different keys which come with procedurally generated worlds for the player to navigate.
