The player can take on the role of the protagonist named as Mario, most of the game, although Princess Peach and Bower are also available as playable characters at certain points. The story centers on the quests of the protagonist and his efforts to restore the seven crystal stars and save Princess Peace from the antagonist named X-Nauts.
