The game acts as the sequel to Toy Soldiers and introduces the military technology of the 80s. It is focused on the idea of military aggression escalating between the USSR and the US. The game comes with a perfect mix of Third-person and Strategy gameplay elements, similar to the main game, but with improved gameplay mechanics and features. In the game, the player struggles to repel the Soviet invasion around a diorama towards a box in the bedroom of the child. Upon comparison with the first release, the game introduces diorama settings ranging from deserts to jungles to real-world locations, including the Great Pyramids and the street of Paris. There are boss levels also present with specific massive enemies, including Typhoon-class submarine. The player moves across the world from a third-person perspective, fight against enemies and take down them to become the master. With the detailed world, brilliant graphics, and cool features, Toy Soldiers: Cold War is the best game to play.

The video games uses the Ivalice’s setting and design different elements from Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rif. The player navigates the environment from a top-down perspective and he has an ability to build different towers that attack and change the route of aliens.
