J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, Vol. I is an Adventure, RPG, Single-player, and Multiplayer video game developed by Interplay Productions. Throughout the game, the player takes on the role of a protagonist named Frodo, where the main mission is to explore the vast worlds and retrieve items. While exploring the world, the player views the field from the third-person perspective.
The game has a series of quests in which the player is tasked to discover the lost items relevant to each map. The items are simple trinkets, misplaced by the NPCs, and the player has to get them anyway. The game begins in the Shire, the land of the Hobbits, and has multiple locations to explore, such as the Bee village, the elven city, and the Mines of Moria.

The player can use a secondary weapon to thrust attacks, such as a shield, spear, or a torch. The player can perform chain attacks, which increase the power of an individual attack. The game has two characters such as Aragorn and Frodo, with a unique playstyle.
In the co-op mode, the second player can control other characters, and both the player remains interconnected. The second player can heal the main protagonist or grant certain boosts to him by casting spells.
